Superstar Spotlight: Illuminating News from Stevens PTA | January 2026, Issue #1

As we've returned from holiday break and look ahead to the months to come, January offers a chance to reflect and reconnect. With Martin Luther King Jr. Day approaching, we’re reminded of the importance of community, kindness, and service. Your Stevens PTA is proud to support programs and events that bring our school community together and enrich our students’ experiences. Thank you for all the ways you show up for Stevens — big and small.

January PTA Meeting Recap

At our January PTA meeting, we shared updates from school leadership, teachers, and committees. Principal Vacca highlighted the excitement around the upcoming chorus and band concert, ongoing science enrichment in fourth and fifth grades, and the success of the Math Challenge. Teachers expressed appreciation for the smooth execution of the Holiday Shop and for the many volunteers who helped support classroom celebrations.

Committee updates included strong momentum in fundraising efforts, with Hannaford Helps contributions and the return of the spring art fundraiser in time for Mother’s Day. Planning is well underway for upcoming events such as Science Night, Dodgeball, and the Fifth Grade Party, along with continued work on the Family Dinner. Arts & Enrichment shared progress on spring programming and club offerings.

Arts & Enrichment Update

Arts & Enrichment programming is coming this March, and several exciting club ideas are already in motion! We’re also putting out a call to parents and community members who may have a hobby, skill, or talent they’d love to share by leading a club. If you’re interested, please reach out to Tatiyana Pavinatto

Registration is expected to open at the beginning of next month.

Support Our Stevens Family Dinner

Planning is underway for the Stevens Family Dinner on Wednesday, February 11, and we’re looking for community support! We are currently accepting raffle basket donations and placemat advertisements to help make this event a success. If you’re interested in contributing, please reach out to BHBLStevensPTA@gmail.com. Thank you for supporting this beloved school tradition!

The Stevens 1001 Book Program Is Waiting for You!

The Stevens 1001 Book Program is up and running for Pre-K–2nd grade readers! Simply stop by the vestibule, choose a blue book bag filled with 10 age-appropriate books, and sign it out in the binder.

Enjoy the books at home for up to three weeks, then return the bag to the 1001 Book Return Box and grab a new one.

Questions, suggestions or want to learn more? Contact the Stevens PTA at BHBLStevensPTA@gmail.com.

💰 Thursdays Are Student Banking

Student Banking is held every Thursday morning as part of our School Banking Program with First New York FCU. The program is going strong, and we’re looking for a few more volunteers to help Thursdays from 8:20–9:00 AM in the cafeteria. It’s a simple, fun way to support our students as they learn healthy saving habits.

If you can spare even one Thursday a month, we’d love to have you!
