At the May Stevens PTA meeting, Superintendent Dr. Patrick McGrath shared highlights from the district’s proposed 2026-2027 budget presentation, including the news that BH-BL students achieved the top academic scores in the Capital Region for 2025 state testing.
Principal Bill Vacca thanked all PTA volunteers in honor of National Volunteer Month and shared updates including a successful Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week, upcoming Inflatable Day, the NYC trip, Walkabout, and ongoing hiring efforts for the principal assistant position and substitute teachers.
The Board of Education report highlighted transportation and robotics program reviews, as well as upcoming revisions to the 2026–2027 school calendar.
Treasurer Chris Marshall reported that the PTA currently holds approximately $63,000, which still includes funds allocated for the upcoming New York City trip.
Committee updates included preparations for the Talent Show, Book Fair, Field Day, Kindergarten Screening, the Hollywood-themed fifth grade celebration, Spring Fling, and the return of the Fun Run with Boosterthon.
The PTA also announced nominations are now open for several 2026–2027 Executive Committee positions and discussed future investments in playground improvements, school equipment, garden updates, and other enhancements to support Stevens students and staff.
