Superstar Spotlight: Illuminating News from Stevens PTA, October 2024
Message from President Icon

Happy Fall! October is here, bringing with it cooler weather and a season full of excitement. I hope anyone who visited Ellms Family Farm on our day off had a great time! It was so nice to see all of our Superstars kicking off fall together.

Our Monster Mash committee is hard at work planning the final details of the October 25 event, and thrilled to announce a new addition this year -- a Trunk or Treat! For those interested in decorating your trunk and participating, details are below, or you can sign-up to be a participant by clicking the button.

October also brings another favorite tradition: the Fall Book Fair! The week-long event, October 21-25, is a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading as the cozy season settles in. Keep reading Spotlight for more information.

Our membership drive is still happening! Your paid membership helps us plan and organize all of the fun events at school. Consider becoming a member today and remember - there is no volunteer requirement!

Let's make this month a special one for our Superstars!

-Nichole Harrell

October PTA Meeting Recap

The recent PTA meeting covered several important updates and upcoming events. President Nichole Harrell thanked Sally Draina for leading a successful Back to School Breakfast and encouraged continued PTA membership promotion. The Spartan Buddies program received a donation from SEPTA, and a new budget line was approved for it.

Dr. Evans announced World SMILE Day activities and outlined October's focus on helping students identify and use their strengths. He also reminded parents to review the Code of Conduct with their children. Teachers expressed appreciation for the breakfast and reported on various school activities, including the 3 to Thrive Assembly, Dance Residency for 5th graders, and Just Run program.

Upcoming events include the Book Fair (October 21-25), Monster Mash (October 25), and Picture Day (October 10). The PTA is also organizing fundraisers such as pie sales and spirit wear. Parents are reminded to label children's belongings and pack extra layers as the weather turns colder.

The PTA is exploring new ideas for family events, including a possible skating night at Guptills and a Science Night at MiSci in January. The Warm Hearts, Warm Hands program continues to support families in need of cold-weather clothing.

The next PTA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 7, 6:30pm in the Library. To view the full meeting minutes via Google Docs, please click here
