The February 4th PTA meeting was filled with exciting updates and upcoming events for our Stevens community. We kicked things off by recognizing our “Shining Stars” – a huge thank you to Jen England for organizing an amazing Science Night with MiSci, which received rave reviews from students, and to Jen Salisbury for coordinating our ice skating and roller-skating events! We also celebrated our Founders Day winners, with Chris Marshall honored as our Parent Representative for her dedication to the backpack program and PTA events, and Mrs. Boussa recognized as our School Representative after receiving multiple nominations.
Several PTA executive positions, including VP of Fundraising, VP of School Support, and Treasurer, will be open for the next term.If you’re interested in getting involved, now is the time to step up! We also encourage families to check out the district-wide Science Fair on February 27 at the high school—it’s a great opportunity to explore science, even if you don’t have a project on display.
Principal Vacca shared school updates, including upcoming Math Fact Ranger activities and adjustments to snack and dress code policies. Construction will begin over summer break with several classrooms undergoing renovations. Students are excited about the return of the Math Fact Challenge, and teachers are eager to support upcoming events like Family Dinner Night.
On the fundraising front, we’re looking to introduce Penny Wars soon, so stay tuned for details. Treasurer Jennifer England reported a current balance of $30,044.70.
Exciting events and activities are on the horizon! The Family Dinner the past week on February 12th. The Dodgeball Tournament on March 11th needs a boost in participation—so gather a team and join the fun! The 5th Grade Committee has already collected 22 raffle baskets for their big event. Enrichment Clubs are about to be in full swing, with a fantastic variety of activities from Lego Clubs to French class and Math Hoops. We are also thrilled to announce that Movie Night is making a comeback—with the Lorax tentatively set for our first showing in April, aligning with Earth Month. This will be a fun family event, not a drop-off. Lastly, mark your calendars for Roller Skating at Guptill’s on February 18th for an afternoon of fun!
The next PTA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, 6:30pm in the Library. To view the full meeting minutes via Google Docs, please click here.
