Superstar Spotlight: Illuminating News from Stevens PTA, September 2024
Message from President Icon
Welcome to the new school year

As your PTA president, I want to extend a warm welcome to the new school year to all our families! The PTA is here to support our children and school community, and we need your involvement to make that happen. I encourage all parents and guardians to get involved - whether it's volunteering, attending meetings, or simply joining the PTA

By joining the PTA, you'll have a voice in decisions that impact our kids, and you'll be part of creating exciting programs and events. There are so many ways to volunteer and make a difference. Let's work together to ensure our children have the best possible educational experience.

September PTA Meeting Recap

We had a Superstar turnout for our first PTA meeting of the new school year with 40 attendees either in-person or virtual!

The meeting began with introductions and announcements of the 2024-2025 Executive Board Members, followed by updates from the President, who highlighted Mary Lawrence for her exceptional contributions to the Stevens PTA.

The annual student banking initiative at Stevens was reviewed by a representative from First New York Federal Credit Union.

District leaders discussed the hiring process for Dr. Evans' replacement upon his pending retirement in January 2025, with interviews scheduled for September 26th.

Reports from the teachers were reviewed, including a reminder to plan early for Science Night.

Fundraising plans were outlined, including Spirit Wear, pies and tea bread sales, and a wrapping paper fundraiser. Various events and initiatives were discussed, such as the Welcome Back Breakfast, Ski Club, Monster Mash, Scholastic Book Fair, Membership Drive, yearbook sales, and Family Directory.

The next PTA meeting is scheduled for October 3 at 6:30 pm in the Library. To view the meeting minutes via Google Docs, please click here.

It's time to update or add your family's contact information to the Directory!

Imagine Little Timmy meeting a new friend, Emma, on the school bus and wanting a playdate, but he only knows her first name and which third grade teacher she has. Without Emma's updated family contact info in the Stevens Family Directoy, their playdate dream might be dashed. Let's help our kids build friendships by ensuring the directory is current. It's quick, easy, and strengthens our community. Please update or add your contact information today. Your children and their friends will thank you!
