Superstar Spotlight: Illuminating News from Stevens PTA, April 2025, Issue #2
May and June: Brought to you by caffeine and calendar reminders

Welcome back, Stevens families! We hope everyone had a great Spring Recess — whether you traveled somewhere exciting or just enjoyed a few days without packing lunches or setting alarms (small victories, right?).

Now it’s game time! Between Teacher Appreciation Week, the BOGO Book Fair, Walkabout, Spring Fling, and our first-ever Fun Run in June — plus whatever wild sports schedules, dance recitals, and end-of-season parties your family is juggling — these next two months are going to be busy in the best way.

We’re kicking things off tonight with our very first PTA Family Movie Night — bring your blankets, your popcorn cravings, and your best “shh” whisper voices!

Keep an eye on your inbox and our Stevens PTA website for updates and volunteer opportunities. We’ve got lots of opportunities to jump in, help out, and soak up all the magic that makes Stevens so special. We can’t wait to finish strong (and maybe slightly out of breath) together.

Stay Tuned: Stevens Weekly Announcements

I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Recess and are feeling recharged for the exciting weeks ahead!

I’m excited to share that you can now find a library of our Weekly Video Announcements on the PTA website. This new resource is a great way to stay connected with what’s happening around our school. If you’ve missed any of the announcements throughout the year — or simply want to rewatch some of our students' great work — we invite you to check it out.

We’ll continue to update the library as new announcements are shared.

Check out this morning's video announcement!

April PTA Meeting Highlights

The Stevens PTA held its April meeting on April 8, 2025. We started by recognizing a few Shining Stars: Erin Smith for the Dodgeball Tournament, Jen Coleman for refreshing our PTA website, and Tatyana Nobre and Mary Lawrence for their work on Enrichment Clubs — thank you!

Membership Toolkit now offers tap-to-pay, and the board approved purchasing the $50 device needed to support it.

Nominations for PTA Board positions (VP of Fundraising, Treasurer, VP of School Support) and two Building Council reps will happen at the May meeting, with voting in June. Although state PTA dues are increasing by $1, Stevens dues will stay at $10.

Principal Bill Vacca shared updates, including Field Day on May 22 (rain date May 27), upcoming state testing, Talent Show and Drama Club dates, and a reminder that placement letters are due by April 11. The 5th Grade Committee is considering gift ideas such as sensory and recess equipment upgrades, playground enhancements, and a freezer for the teachers' lounge.

Penny Wars was a huge success, raising over $3,000! Silver Graphics details are coming soon. Our PTA account balance is in excellent standing, and expenses for Arts in Education and Drama Club are upcoming.

Committee updates included Movie Night (April 25), planning for Walkabout, Teacher Appreciation Week (theme: “Thanks for Helping Us Bloom”), the Fun Run, and Spring Fling, which will feature a chicken BBQ open to the community. The BOGO Book Fair will run May 12, 14 and15 from 5–8 p.m. Website updates are underway, and feedback is welcome!

Thank you to everyone who attended.

🌸 Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming! 🌸

The Stevens PTA is hard at work planning a week full of special activities to celebrate our amazing teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5–9)! From daily surprises to festive treats, we’re pulling out all the stops to show them how much they mean to us.

How you can help:
